Oasys was founded on a simple belief: the people caring for our mental health deserve a system that cares for them. Instead of forcing clinicians to work around broken systems, we built the platform they wish they had — one that removes operational burden, empowers their expertise, and gives them back time to focus on what matters most: their clients.
Our story
How it started
Oasys was founded on a simple idea: give clinicians more time for the work that matters. That idea started with Hashem, who grew up between his mother’s sessions. She’s a clinical psychologist — and from that waiting room, he saw what care looks like when it’s done well: the patience, the presence, the way she showed up for her clients, her clinicians, and her family. He also saw how much of her day was pulled toward billing, scheduling, and admin. Building Oasys was his way of giving clinicians like her those minutes back.
That pull took him into biomedical engineering at Harvard, where he worked at the intersection of physiological data and mental health outcomes. He teamed up with Raffay, a machine learning and computer science engineer from Duke who shared the same conviction: mental health care deserved better tools, and more data in service of the humans doing the work. Raffay’s mother is a professor of psychology. Two sons raised by women who devoted their lives to the field — both building to honor that work.
Together they built a system so clinicians can spend more time on the people who matter.
