Organization snapshot
SoCal Soul Family Therapy is a startup practice, launched by two clinicians — Adriana Niizawa and Maria Bernal — to redefine mental health care in Orange County. From the beginning, the practice paired evidence-based psychotherapy with thoughtfully selected holistic practices, treating emotional, physical, and overall well-being as connected rather than separate.
Their goals
SoCal Soul set out to build whole-person care: evidence-based psychotherapy paired with holistic practices, where a client's physical well-being is part of the clinical picture rather than a separate conversation. Just as deliberately, the founders wanted their first years to be spent with clients — not building a billing function and a data infrastructure behind the scenes.
The challenge
As a new practice, SoCal Soul never had the time or headcount to build a billing operation or a data infrastructure from scratch. Instead of stitching together a billing team and a separate outcomes tool as they grew, they launched with both already in place — a launch, not a migration.
“We didn't want to spend our first year chasing insurance claims. Oasys handled billing from day one, so we could focus entirely on our clients.”

Managed RCM: billing, fully handled
SoCal Soul runs on Oasys' Managed RCM plan, in which Oasys handles all of the practice's billing: claims are submitted, tracked, and reconciled end to end by Oasys' team, on the practice's behalf. It's one of two ways practices run revenue cycle on Oasys — others, like Lowry Hill, run their own billing in-house on the platform. For a founding team of two clinicians, Managed RCM meant never having to become billing specialists.
“Running a behavioral health practice comes with enough complexity already. Oasys has simplified the financial side by handling day-to-day billing, allowing our team to focus on delivering care.”

Whole-person care, with data to match
The holistic side of the practice runs on data as much as philosophy. Wearable health data integration is built in across the board, so client wearable data — the physical side of well-being — feeds into the same record as clinical notes. Progress shows up in something the practice and the client can actually see, not just describe.
“Bringing in wearable data alongside our clinical notes fits exactly what we believe about healing. It's not just what a client tells us, it's what their body is showing too.”

What's made the difference
- Claims handled end to end — Oasys' Managed RCM service submits, tracks, and reconciles claims on SoCal Soul's behalf, so a founding two-person team never has to become billing specialists.
- Wearable data across the board — secure wearable health data connects directly into the client record, so progress shows up in something the practice and the client can actually see, not just describe.
- A launch, not a migration — because SoCal Soul was brand new, there was no old system to untangle. Billing and outcomes tracking were built in from the first client, not added on later.
Equipped to grow from here
Oasys was built on the idea that new practices shouldn't have to grow into a real operating system — they should be able to launch with one. For SoCal Soul, that meant starting with billing fully managed and wearable data connected across the board, so the practice could stay focused on the reason it exists in the first place: the clients in the room.
